Hiranyakashyap was a demon and he was the king of Hardoi and he traitor of God Hari but in ancient time Haridrohi. His son Prahlad was a devotee of Lord Vishnu and in order to kill him . Hiranyakasip had set up his sister Holika in the fire. Holika was a boon that she would not burn by fire. Holi is a major festival of Hindus which is celebrated by the Hindu calendar In month of Phalgun. The festival of lasts night when beginning of Purnima the full moon day. Holi is the festival of colours which is celebrated not only in India but all across the world. It is celebrated for two days in India.People take part in Holika Dahan .Next day, people of all ages gather together to play with colours called “gulal and coloured water called Dulahandi . People consume special sweets made for the day called “gujiya” and serve “thandaai” or cold drinks and bhaang . Holi should be played carefully by organic gulal People should be aware of their surroundings while playing Holi and be careful not to cause harm to anyone. In the evening, they bathe and dress up nicely to visit their friends and family. In some places in India, Holi is celebrated for five days as well. Holi is a national Holiday and all educational institutions and offices are closed on this day
